From round two onward, the group chooses the rules that make its run harder. Those modifiers persist and combine, while restaurant selection and temporary substance buffs add two more layers of risk management.
Choose one of two contracts
Before each shift from the second round onward, the group receives two modifier contracts and picks one. Modifiers stack across the run. Most increase difficulty, while a smaller number are beneficial.
Confirmed modifier examples
- Rush Hour increases customer volume and earning potential.
- Profanity Policy punishes the team when someone swears on the microphone.
- Midmaxxing changes appliance cooking temperatures.
- Other contracts can alter economy rules and AI behavior.
Restaurant choice changes the board
The game has six restaurants: one starter location and five unlockable locations. Each has its own layout and rating. The crew chooses its next destination from a board in the Lair.
Substances trade a buff for addiction risk
Four substances can appear during a run: alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, and sugar. Each grants a useful effect while active. The developer specifically confirms that caffeine increases speed.
Every use can cause addiction. Once addicted, withdrawal reduces stamina until the substance is used again. Temporary restaurant effects such as burns and grease can also affect players during work.
